Effective and Sustainable Governance Structures for Combating Antimicrobial Resistance at Health Facilities in Kenya

In a 2017 assessment using the World Health Organization (WHO) Joint External Evaluation (JEE) tool (version 1), Kenya demonstrated a lower capacity for infection prevention control (IPC) and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), key elements in combatting the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This technical brief summarizes MTaPS support in establishing and strengthening IPC and AMS governance structures in Kenya’s health facilities to ensure improved implementation of Kenya’s AMR containment policies and action plans.
