Building Resilient Health Systems: What Has COVID-19 Taught Us About Infection Prevention and Emergency Supply Chains?

Published : June 7, 2021

In March 2020, following the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, MTaPS began supporting USAID’s rapid response in 13 countries. Our focus was on improving health workers’ infection prevention and control capacities and supporting countries’ emergency supply chain management to avoid stockouts. On Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 9 am EDT, the USAID MTaPS program hosted a roundtable conversation on insights and takeaways of our multicountry COVID-19 response. The discussion centered on what worked, what didn’t work, and what we could do to improve emergency preparedness and health system resilience. Ministry of Health officials and the MTaPS COVID-19 response team shared their perspectives on the MTaPS’ COVID-19 response in Bangladesh, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and the Philippines.
